New Delhi: An Appellate Authority will be set up by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) to address the complaints of their employees and students about alleged discrimination and favouritism by the administration.
The IIT has already received go ahead nod to set up Appellate Authority by the IIT Council, the apex decision making body of IITs.
"Disputes among students, teachers and employees will be addressed by the Appellate Authority. It will serve as grievance redressal mechanism," said an IIT Director. |

As informed by sources the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) receives a number of complaints related to harassment, discrimination and favouritism every year.
The IITs has consensus that the Appellate Authority will provide tranparancy and keep IITs isolated from unwanted interference and pressure from within or outside.
Educational tribunals in the universities to address such issues have also been initiated by the MHRD to ensure ransparency.
For this purpose, a committee has been formed which is headed by R. P. Agrawal, higher education secretary to suggest messures.
