New Delhi : The results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2008 were declared on Friday, ending the wait for about 2.76 lakh aspirants across the country who had appeared for the examination on November 18.

The result of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2008 is available through NNE's portal www.ExamResults.net

CAT-takers can also access their CAT 2008 scores by using the SMS facility of mobile phones. For SMS, candidate can type 'CAT test registration number date of birth (ddmmyy)' or 'CAT test registration number application number" for example: "CAT 5370082 030482" or "CAT 5370082 123456" and SMS to "57333".

The CAT 2008 question paper carried 360 marks for 90 questions, which was markedly different from the earlier versions where students had to answer only 75 questions carrying a total of 300 marks.

CAT is the stepping stone for MBA aspirants to get admitted in reputed management schools of India.

Apart from the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) located at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and Shillong, CAT is also a mandatory entrance examination for several other leading institutes like Kirloskar Institute of Management, Mudra Institute of Communication (MICA) Ahmedabad, Nirma Institute of Management, S.P. Jain Institute, TAPAI and several others.

Some people feel that CAT is more of a rejection process than a selection process. 'It rejects those who can't make their minds work at break-neck speed for two and a half hours non-stop'.

The entrance exam, designed to test a student's managerial aptitude, saw an increase of 23 percent in the total number of applications this year and nearly 40 colleges added their names to the list of colleges that decide admissions on CAT scores.
