 NIIT University launches PhD, M Tech and B Tech programs

Kolkata: The NIIT University, a not-for-profit institution sponsored by NIIT Limited, announced the launch of industry-ready PhD, M Tech and B Tech programs for the upcoming academic session due to start in September 2009. Settled over 100 acres at the foothills of the Aravali Range in Neemrana, Rajasthan- NIIT University is committed towards offering career-centric education and ensuring exceptional job opportunities. The NIIT University offers PhD programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Educational Technology and Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, MTech Programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Educational Technology and BTech Programs in Computer Science and Engineering, through curriculum designed to suffice the current the industry needs.

While explaining this noteworthy advancement and future initiatives, Mr. Rajendra S Pawar, Pro-Chancellor, NIIT University, affirmed, "NIIT University is designed to shape great careers for tomorrow's knowledge economy." The emblem of NIIT University depicts a Mobius ring, which symbolize eternity and emphasize the institution's aim to establish itself as a foundation for multifaceted careers. Idea of such a university was conceived in the 90's but its compact framework was formulated when eminent academicians came together and put a concerted effort in 2005. The long list of founding advisory board members includes Prof P V Indiresan, Former Director, IIT Madras, Prof C S Jha, Former Director, IIT Kharagpur, Dr Kiran Karnik, Former President, NASSCOM and Prof R C Malhotra, Former Director, IIT Kanpur.

The curriculum is designed in such a way that a full semester (6 months) is devoted to industry practice for undergraduates and internship for post graduates to gift them first hand experience in the workplace. Accomplished industry professionals will be in-charge of major proportion for every program and the entire curriculum will undergo timely amendments by industry advisory board and academicians to keep pace with the ever-changing market needs. Senior managers will offer their valuable opinions as visiting and mentor faculty at the university.

NIIT University will use high-end technology in its daily educational operations. synchronous learning technology allows students to opt for face-to-face exchange of ideas with faculty from across the world. The University will also offer a large e-learning library accompanied by extensive computing facilities. The NIIT University is master-planned by YRM (London) Ltd, which has incorporated earth-air tunnel installation for a natural ventilation effect. The first admissions cycle for PhD, MTech and BTech programs is set to begin for the academic year 2009-10, on receiving the government notification.
