The cut-off for BMS at St Xavier's College was 80.83% compared to last year's 86.33%. At Ramnarain Ruia College, the cut-off for BSc. (computer science) was 86% compared to 91.5% last year.

"This year cut-off goes lower for the reason that this year HSC result has dipped by 10pc," principal, Hinduja College.

Cut-off for the BMS at Hinduja College had come down 71.67% to 60.33%.

Students are happy to know a dip in cut-off. Every year, HSC students had to jostle for space in the lists.

80pc of the students admitted to professional courses at Jai Hind College were not from the state board.

To level the playing field for HSC students, St Xavier's put up a separate merit list for them. Ruia, too, took a similar step.
