2. Eligibility for Entrance Test
2.1. For Admission to the MBA/MCA courses through MET-2008, and PAM-CAT 2008, 85 % seats will be reserved for the residents of Punjab State and 15% seats will be open to candidates outside the State.
2.2. The residence condition of Punjab Candidates as given in 2.1 above will be determined in terms of instructions issued by the Government of Punjab, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Personnel Policies Branch).
2.3. Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examinations, whose result has not been declared, may be allowed to appear provisionally in the Entrance Test at their own risk and responsibility. Their candidature for admission to MBA/MCA course shall be considered only if they submit a duly attested copy of the detailed marks card/requisite certificate in original (stating the marks obtained) of the qualifying examination at the time of counseling.
2.4. The candidature of all candidates to the Entrance Test shall be purely provisional. If on verification at a later stage, it is found that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility conditions, his/her candidature will be cancelled and he/she will have no claim, whatsoever, against the University/College. The candidates are, therefore advised in their own interest to go through the eligibility conditions carefully and make sure of their eligibility before appearing in the examination.
Educational Qualification for Admission
As per the latest guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the basic educational qualifications for admission to these courses shall be as under:
For MBA Course
All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline.
For MCA Course
All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline, with Mathematics at 10+2 school level or have passed BCA of minimum three years duration from any recognized University.
However, the eligibility criteria for admission including educational qualifications as specified by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjabi University, Patiala will be applicable for admission to the institutions/colleges affiliated to respective Universities.
3. Specific Eligibility Condition for Admission Laid Down by the respective Universities
A. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar
For MBA
Bachelor's degree in any stream with no less than 50% marks.
For MCA
BBA/B.Com./B.Com (Professional) /B.Sc. (Hons.) Economics or Graduate in any stream with Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Sciences / Computer Applications / IT / Computer Maintenance / Quantitative Techniques as one of the elective subjects with 50% marks in aggregate or any equivalent degree thereto.
Bachelor's degree in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate with Mathematics as an elective subject at +2 level.
B. Panjabi University, Patiala
For MBA
Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the Bachelors/Masters Degree examination (45% marks for SC/ST and physically handicapped with at least 40% disability).
For MCA
Candidate who have passed the Bachelor's degree (10+2+3)/BCA in any discipline of the statutory University with 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST and physically handicapped with at least 40% disability).
The candidates must have passed the senior secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination or higher degree examination with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics/Business Statistics/Quantitative Techniques or equivalent as compulsory/optional/additional subject or paper.
C. Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar
For MBA
Candidates should have passed any recognized Bachelor's Degree of recognized by association of Indian Universities.
For MCA
All those candidates who have passed any recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Mathematics / Business Statistics / Quantitative Techniques as Compulsory / Optional / Additional Paper as one of the subjects either at 10+2 or at graduation level.
